Use This Exercise:


  1. When you're in a situation you can't control, and you want to manage your reactions, instead of being controlled by them.
  2. To help you be dispassionately objective in experiencing your mind so that you can directly experience the automatic nature of emotions and thoughts.
  3. To free yourself from cultural programming, to cultivate a sense of detachment from daily drama, and ultimately to free yourself from suffering.
